Hereditary has already been branded the “most insane horror movie in years” and judging by the latest trailer that description seems to be spot on.

The synopsis reads as follows: “When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.”

Some of the best horror movies feature creepy, evil children, and Hereditary looks to be no different thanks to a chilling young character named Charlie. Charlie features predominantly in the trailer above and goes a long way to proving that he may just be the next great horror child.

Initially screened at Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight section, The A.V. Club described it as “the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages.”
