Fashion’s new favorite polymath, Heron Preston, has enjoyed an unlikely rise. His output to date has been elastic, to say the least. From his bygone Been Trill days to dropping bootleg NASCAR T-shirts to becoming the first artist-in-residence at NYC’s Department of Sanitation (DSNY) where he produced an entire fashion collection and showed it at NYFW.

Not to mention his seasoned stints as an NYC nightlife fixture and DJ, a marketing specialist and social media director at Nike, and working as an art director for Kanye West.

After years of trolling fashion and streetwear with a slew of conceptual projects (and some self-reflexive irony), Preston defied convention by simply indulging convention, and made an unlikely move to produce a solid debut fashion collection. Entirely gimmick-free and without any overarching lofty concepts, he quietly showed on schedule at Paris Fashion Week Men’s FW17. Take a look at some behind-the-scenes shots from the making of the latest collection's lookbook above.

The collection, titled "For You, The World" offers a cohesive aesthetic narrative, weaving in ideas, graphics, and inspiration such as Cyrillic typography and nu-workwear that Preston has intensely explored in capsule collections and exclusive releases over the years.

Even though Preston can now be bluntly categorized as a fashion designer, he’s certainly not about to maintain any of the industry’s tired traditions. Where most brands and designers will announce the retail drop of a collection with a humble newsletter, Preston has announced a world tour.

That’s correct. To commemorate the global launch of his first full collection, Preston will be heading Moscow, London, Seoul, New York, Milan, Tokyo and Paris to host a series of in-store events. The “tour” will kick off in Moscow, where Preston is set to team up with the city’s most iconic concept store KM20, and designed a dedicated pop-up installation incorporating video and art installations, metal mechanical arms and heavy-duty machinery.

The launch event on May 19 in Moscow at KM20 will feature music by Virgil Abloh and DJ CYBER69. For those not able to make it the Russian capital, will be live streaming the entire event.

The Moscow pop-up will be open for three days and will showcase a number of Heron Preston x DSNY items presented during NYFW in September 2017 alongside the main FW17 collection and a limited edition graphic tee created for the retail tour partners exclusively for sale at these limited pop-up installations.
