Highsnobiety

Few labels, if any, have been able to translate Scandinavian sensibilities into high fashion like Acne Studios.

The Northern Europe subregion has a long history of only doing things to the highest of standards — whether that be education, social care, or in this case, making great clothes. That dedication to providing high standards feeds into the minimalist design language Acne Studios is known for. Shunning gimmicks or garish design and opting for a laser-like focus on fit and material.

Jonny Johansson, the brand's co-founder and creative director, coined the term "maximalist minimalism" to describe his designs. Creating runway shows means the label has to experiment with themes every season and keep its audience entertained, but regardless of how experimental the clothing gets, everything is rationalized with a Scandinavian restraint. That nordic aesthetic informs its collections and results in clothes that simply just look good.

The label's premium price point is justified by more than just its designs and high-quality finishes, Acne Studios has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since 2008 which has rated the label at its highest grade for social practices in its supply chain in the last two years.

Keeping to the label's theme of maximalist minimalism, we've tried our hand at styling Acne Studios in the best way possible — with more Acne Studios. One of our in-house styling gurus Jerome Glock has walked us through each look that he created below.

Keep it slouchy

"This fluffy sweater is the knitwear of dreams, paired with some wide-legged trousers and you've got a cozy fit."

Summer is arriving

"I was manifesting a summer vacation with this look, I can picture wearing it to an ocean-side restaurant."

Super casual

"A hoodie paired with a puffer jacket is the streetwear uniform for cold days, I've been wearing the combination for years."

Oversized is for the cool kids

"This fit does have a slight "back to school" vibe to it. However, I was not dressing this well at school — and neither was anyone else that I know."

That everyday spring look

"A good tank top will save you in the summer, this is the type of casual 'fit you'll see me wearing throughout the hot months."
