In following up on a recent update which centered around integrating Boomerang into the app itself, Instagram is now introducing new additional features. This week's revamp in turn focuses on fresh ways to share in the moment.
First off, Instagram Live allows you to broadcast video in real time. Your followers will only be able to watch while you are streaming, as no replays will be available. The app's explore page will, however, feature the best Instagram Live videos happening right now.
Viewers will have the opportunity to comment on your live feed, or you can turn comments off altogether. When someone that you follow goes live, you will then see "Live" appear under their profile picture in the stories bar.
In addition, you can now send disappearing photos and videos to a select number of followers. These designated friends will in turn be allowed to view the direct message twice before it disappears.
Whether your account is set to public or private, you can only send disappearing photos and videos to people who follow you.
Disappearing photos and videos in Instagram Direct will start rolling out globally today, while live video on Instagram Stories and Explore will become available globally over the next few weeks.
