Who: Jaden Smith

The outfit he's wearing: Louis Vuitton SS19 suit by womenswear artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière, LV Archlight sneakers, and Louis Vuitton belt.

Location: "Louis Vuitton X" exhibition, Los Angeles

Why it works: Relaxed tailoring might be one of SS20's major trends, but Jaden Smith, who now has bleached eyebrows, nailed the perfect midpoint between smart and casual suiting with the ’fit he wore to the "Louis Vuitton X" event in LA this week. While the cut and light gray color say smart, the playful crossover detailing on the lapel and zipper fastening lends the look a laidback vibe.

That chill aesthetic is reinforced by the gold-soled LV Archlight sneakers he's paired the suit with — he's a big fan, after all — as do the stacks of chains around his neck and wrists, which may or may not be Virgil Abloh creations, and his bright pink hair.

Editor's notes: Smith is becoming increasingly notable for forgoing binary codes in his style, having become something of a spearhead in the current dismantling of gender in fashion. SS19 and SS20 saw collections throwing gender normativity to the wayside, and that is exactly what Smith is doing here by wearing a Spring/Summer 2019 suit by Louis Vuitton womenswear artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière.

Of course, this isn't the first time Smith has reminded us that there's more to Louis Vuitton than Virgil Abloh. It was only a few months ago that he turned up to the brand's FW19 Paris Fashion Week show decked out in a monogrammed ’fit.

However, belt aside, this particular outfit is far less branded, instead drawing our attention to the suit's lapel detailing, its smart yet casual cut, the accessories, and those bold LV Archlight kicks.
