At this point, everyone is hyperaware of the fact that our attention spans are rapidly shrinking. It takes a special type of visual to maintain the average person’s focus, the most captivating image of all being a meme. I still remember how transfixed I felt the first time that the Rickroll unexpectedly popped up on my screen about a decade ago. The same tingling sensation hit me when I watched Jaunt‘s music video for their new single “On Your Mind” which follows a man dancing by himself in random settings.

As the visual takes us from a grassy hill to an abandoned stairwell followed by a parking lot and the back of a building, I couldn’t look away from those free flailing limbs. In regards to the track, it’s extremely pleasant and was practically made to be the background noise that gets you up off your feet and into the groove.

“We have been deep in the sonic sauce and wanted to put something out that’s a little different than what you might typically expect from us,” Jaunt told us in an email. “‘On Your Mind’ is Timbaland programming circa 2002. It’s Arthur Russell lyrical sincerity. It’s another permutation of the ever shape-shifting Jaunt.”

Jaunt is a five-piece DIY group based in Toronto with collaborative ties to BADBADNOTGOOD and Charlotte Day Wilson. Last year, they dropped the Cue EP which follows 2016’s Chat EP. Watch the full video and scroll down for the list of Jaunt’s upcoming tour dates.
