Editor’s Notes: After its playful SS19 capsule, Japanese label JieDa has shifted gears. A car yard provides the backdrop for its FW19 lookbook, with disused, crumpled vehicles contrasting with the pristine silhouettes and sharp lines of the brand’s latest offering of tailored suits and coats.
The collection is equal parts formal and athletic. Tailored garments like the piecemeal trench coat, suit, and bucket hat exemplify JieDa’s attention to detail and finishing.
The range also includes an ambitiously constructed Frankenstein’s monster-style two-piece that seems to be the product of khaki and pin-stripped originals. Sportier garments such as the lime sweater and the dark purple and navy fleece demonstrate the collection’s versatility.
As with previous collections, layering is key. The lookbook, photographed by Fabien Montique and styled by Vanille Verloës, effectively demonstrates how well athleticism and careful tailoring can be integrated to complement each other.
