These days, house parties just don’t get as rowdy as they used to. But if you’re Jinka, the spirit of the party animal follows wherever you lead. Today, we’re premiering the Transylvanian artist’s music video for her latest single, “Romeo.” In an email to Highsnobiety, Jinka described the song as “the sonic palette which is going to serve as grounds for my future work in 2019.” Directed by Emilia Kurylowicz, the accompanying visual is set in Tbilisi, Georgia where Jinka celebrates her 100th birthday and absolutely insanity ensues.

“When Emilia Kurylowicz showed me the parody she made of Drake’s ‘Plastic Bag’ it became clear to me that we shared a similar vision and should collaborate on something,” she said. “That something ended up being the ‘Romeo’ video in which we staged an emo birthday party with bizarre party people whose teasing behavior makes me overcome my apathy towards them. To escape this uncomfortable situation I decide to sing them to sleep like Jigglypuff from ‘Pokémon.’ In short: we aimed to design some sort of counter-example to the classic pop music party video.”

This track is featured on Jinka’s debut EP Dr. Ara which is out now. Watch the bizarre birthday bash go down in the video below.
