After winning the American Music Award for Favorite Male Artist in the Soul/R&B category, Khalid drops his new Suncity EP. The project was inspired by a recent trip to his hometown of El Paso, Texas where Khalid received the Key to the City, had a day named in his honor, and performed two sold-out shows.

Suncity is five tracks long and includes an intro and an interlude. This marks the breakout singer-songwriter’s first body of work following his acclaimed debut album, American Teen. Khalid is also currently prepping his much-anticipated sophomore album, which is due out in early 2019.

In a press release, Khalid made the following statement about the EP: “More than anything in life right now I want growth. I want my music to grow and represent how I am growing up. Suncity is the start of a new era for me, this music poured out of me and I didn’t want to wait to share it. I wanted to be able to live in this moment with my fans and my friends and speak from the heart.”
