Hiroshi Fujiwara is one of the most recognizable names in street culture—that is to say, he’s highly regarded in certain discerning consumer circles. More known as a behind-the-scenes creative than a star designer, he’s quietly established a reputation for bringing streetwear to Japan and an aesthetic that blends a high-end sensibility with a certain edgy appeal.
Take for example, his recent collaboration with Louis Vuitton. Done under his fragment design studio—the same label responsible for one of the most covetable pairs of Air Jordan 1s of all time—the capsule collection consists of several prep-inspired staples like a varsity jacket, surplus-inspired fare like a scout shirt and matching shorts. Accessories like bags and wallets are emblazoned with Louis Vuitton’s recognizable monogram motif rendered in a charcoal grey and black, with slight hits of iridescent hardware and fragment design’s trademark lighting icon.
After debuting in Asia last month, the capsule finally makes its way stateside. As of today, it’s exclusively available at a New York City pop-up shop in SoHo. It will have a wider release on May 5 at Louis Vuitton stores nationwide.
We got an exclusive look inside the pop-up before it opened its doors to the public. The Louis Vuitton x fragment design New York City pop-up is open at 122 Greene Street until June 30.
