adidas‘s former creative director Dirk Schönberger is the new global creative officer of MCM.

Based in Berlin, Schönberger will aim to capture the city’s vibe and “translate the brand’s vision, DNA, and spirit to further define its signature offering.” His first collection for MCM debuts in Spring/Summer 2020.

“MCM is a 21st-century icon of style, quality, craftsmanship, and modernity,” Schönberger explains.

“I am honored to address a new generation of consumers who are opinionated, outgoing, and courageous in their expression of style. MCM’s inherent optimism, positivity, and transparency are the driving force of this brand, and I believe that together we can build a global powerhouse of German luxury.”

Schönberger has helped develop the adidas Originals brand and was pivotal in the re-release of the classic Stan Smith silhouette. He has overseen adidas collaborations with Rick Owens and Opening Ceremony, and was responsible for the game-changing signing of Kanye West.
