Moncler announces the return of its Genius project for the second year with a virtuosic collection by conceptual British designer Craig Green. The collection just launched at the Moncler Genius building in Milan.
As esoteric as ever, the 5–MONCLER CRAIG GREEN collection draws inspiration from tents and kites, pulled to extremes with hooded capes, strings, and billowing dramatic hoods and cuts, underscored through bold, hi-contrast colors.
The project replaces Moncler’s seasonal partnerships with monthly drops from an array of designers – both internally within the fabled outerwear brand and externally in gorgeous collaborations with outside creatives.
The Next Chapter launched January 10 via a series of immersive video installations that Moncler say display “the creative spirit, the intentions and the atmosphere of each collection.”
The whole collection launched at an industrial space-cum-gallery through a series of rooms that introduced the different stages of Green’s collection, bringing the Moncler Genius concept to life.
The Genius campaign will see new collections unveiled over the course of the year, eschewing the FW/SS Fashion Week’s timetable and connecting directly with consumers on an ongoing basis. Moncler will drop eight collections at once, independent of the usual rhythm of the fashion industry, allowing for an interaction with consumers that is not linked to seasonality and not confined by the structures of Fashion Weeks.
They’ve certainly drafted in their big guns for The Next Chapter, lead by award-winning designer Craig Green. He’s joined by names such as Simone Rocha, Noir Kei Ninomiya, Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Michael Socha, the latter two of whom combined for a cinematic animation themed around the seasons and the elements.
Stay tuned for more as Moncler Genius gets underway.
