German luxury watchmakers Montblanc unveils the latest edition of its smartwatch line with the Summit 2. This model is the successor to its 2017 Summit, and comes in the wake of the Apple Watch Series 4, with a heftier price tag starting at $995.
Like its predecessor, the Summit 2 boasts a traditional circular profile and it’s inspired by the brand’s 1858 collection with a compact unisex 42mm case size. It’s also the first luxury smartwatch to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset, which offers improved performance and new features like longer battery life, weeklong time-only mode, Google Pay, a Timeshifter app to eliminate jet lag, and an exclusive Montblanc Running Coach app.
Aside from the new processor, the Summit 2 also boasts better specs as the RAM has been upgraded from 512MB to 1GB, internal storage is now 8GB compared to 4GB, and the components are housed in a 14.3mm-thick case equipped with a 1.2-inch screen that runs Wear OS 2.1.
Furthermore, the Summit 2 features a built-in watch face configurator that enables over a thousand watch face combinations possible, and offered in different case finishes like black DLC steel, stainless steel, bicolor steel and titanium Grade 2 — all of which can be combined with 11 different strap options.
