Model: RS-X and RS-X Motorola
Key Features: Both RS-Xs feature a mesh base upper with leather and suede overlays, a bulky midsole unit, and pull-tabs at both the tongue and heel. The Motorola version features text details such as “hellomoto” and “Mini USB,” inspired by the tech company’s product line and early cellphones. Both versions feature a predominantly dark colorway, with hits of white, silver, and purple complementing the black.
Release Date: May 4
Buy: PUMA and select retailers TBC
Editor’s Notes: PUMA has unveiled its latest RS-X collaboration, this time with cellphone maker Motorola. Unsurprisingly, the theme of both new sneakers (one in-house and one collaborative) is the pre-iPhone era in which Motorola was a tech giant making cutting-edge phones.
The collection, which also includes a range of apparel, is part of a concerted effort by PUMA to collaborate with nostalgia-inducing brands such as SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog, MTV, and Polaroid. The Motorola version of the RS-X features nice touches such as “hellomoto” text, which will spark a Pavlovian reaction among anyone who owned a Moto phone back in the day.
