Model: Air Jordan 5 “Laney”
Key Features: The yellow and blue color scheme from Michael Jordan’s alma mater has been reversed, with a blue nubuck used for the upper instead of the traditional white. Yellow and silver accents are seen on the tongue, lining, sole, and heel, while a speckled gray midsole completes the look.
Release Date: Available now (February 9 on Sneakersnstuff)
Editor’s Notes: The “Laney” Nike Air Jordan 5 is one of the most respected non-OG colorways Jordan Brand has released over the years. It takes inspiration from Michael Jordan’s high school alma mater and his “failure” to make the varsity team as a sophomore.
This release, however, flips the traditional white base for an all-over royal blue base with white and yellow accents, the colors of Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The “Laney” Nike Air Jordan 5 originally released in 2000 and then again in 2013, making this the third “Laney”-themed release and the first time the colors have been flipped.
