Model: Moon Racer
Key Features: A Cortez-like upper, inspired by the classic Moon Shoe, sits atop a Nike React midsole. Inside, there’s a moon graphic sock liner with an oversized leather Swoosh on both sides completing the look.
Release Date: November 17
Editor’s Notes: After debuting its hybrid Moon Racer earlier this year, Nike is releasing new colorways of the lifestyle sneaker. The highlight of the three colorways (all of which can be checked out below) is the “Black/Racer Blue” iteration featured above.
Featuring a stealthy black-on-black upper with racer blue accents and gray speckles on the React midsole, this is possibly the best colorway of the silhouette thus far.
The Moon Racer is inspired by the Nike Moon Shoe, an early prototype of the iconic Nike Waffle Trainer. This is represented by the moon graphic sock liner and insoles. Nike’s waffle iron outsole-outfitted Moon Shoe debuted in 1972, three years after Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon.
The silhouette’s oversized Swoosh and sole unit were previously seen on Nike’s Vapor Street Flyknit.
