A project that kicked off in 2018, Nike: On Air is the product of locals from around the world who participated in workshops to dream up shoe designs inspired by their communities. 18 finalists were narrowed down to six winners who brought their designs to life, all of which were made available for purchase on April 13.
Now, following their official Nike drop, all six of the eye-catching, inspirational designs can now be copped at StockX; though some come with considerably higher mark-ups than others.
Peep each of the designs below, and click through to secure your pair ahead of potential upset this weekend.
Inspired by his hometown, Seoul, and its wash of neon signs, Gwang Shin’s Air Max 97 features bright neon accents that contrast with its matte black base, while a full-size Swoosh on the side adds a bit of exaggerated branding.
The Nike Air Max 98 “La Mezcla” has seen lowest sales of less than its retail price tag ahead of release, so StockX could be your best bet if this particular pair has caught your eye. The upper palate represents the diverse complexions of New York City.
The Air Max 98 “London Summer of Love” is a particularly eye-catching colorway to release from the Nike: On Air competition. Designed by Jasmine Lasode, it uses a first date spent on London’s picturesque Primrose Hill as its inspiration.
Though Yuta Takuman’s Air Max 1 Tokyo Maze retails for slightly less than the other 5 Nike: On Air kicks, we’re not sure that’ll matter much for its resale premium. The sneakers take cues from the colorful subway lines of the Japanese capital with its laces, while its embossed leather is reminiscent of Tokyo’s concrete surface.
The only Air Vapormax Plus to be selected in the final six models so far looks to be the priciest over at StockX, but it’s easy to see why Lou Matheron’s “Works in Progress” design – which uses colors from the under-construction Parisian courthouse – comes with one of the highest resale premiums.
Cash Ru’s Air Max 97 “SH Kaleidoscope” is an interpretation of what Cash sees while looking at the shifting clouds above Shanghai. It’s ice blue colorway is a perfect statement for summer months to come, while details such as triple back pull loops go some way to justifying its mark-up.
