Editor’s Notes: After Nike SB rider Eric Koston was spotted wearing a "UNC" pair of Nike SB Air Jordan 1 Lows a couple of weeks ago, Nike has confirmed that it will be released on August 12. There had previously been some confusion after official product shots were uploaded to Nike’s SNKRS release calendar only for the page to be removed.

Koston recently worked with Jordan Brand to drop the first-ever Nike SB Air Jordan 1 Low in a "Midnight Navy" colorway inspired by a Japan-exclusive pair from 2001. This “UNC” colorway is the latest in what is becoming a series of SB x Jordan Brand Swoosh crossovers.

The “UNC” colorway is not only inspired by Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, but it also references the sneakers Koston's mom wouldn't buy for him he was a kid, specifically the Air Jordan 1. The UNC iteration was one of the OG Air Jordan 1 colorways from 1985 and was retro-ed back in 2015.
