Editor’s Notes: New brand on the block PANGAIA is all about sustainability. The functional core collection uses bio-based and post-consumer recycled materials and plastic bottles. Each item comes in TIPA packaging, a plastic alternative that biodegrades within 24 weeks.
The collection consists of t-shirts, hoodies, track pants, puffer jackets, windbreakers, socks, bags, and caps, all in a neutral palette of natural and richly hued colors, created with natural botanical dyes from plants. Natural seaweed fiber is lightweight and absorbs moisture faster than cotton, as well as being biodegradable, so it’s perfect for the T-shirts. The puffer jackets are filled with flower down, a vegan and cruelty-free alternative to the traditional goose feather down.
The clothing is treated with antibacterial peppermint oil to keep them fresh in every sense of the word. Finally, PANGAIA wants to ensure their pieces are zero-waste, and so have partnered with Renewal Workshop to repair, upcycle, or recycle their clothing.
Prices range from $150-900. 1% of proceeds will be donated to 5 Gyres, a non-profit organization that empowers action against the global health crisis of plastic pollution through science, art, education, and adventure.
