Last month, Pharrell Williams appeared in GQ France and provided us with a closer look at the artist and designer’s forthcoming collaboration alongside storied French fashion house Chanel, plus two unreleased pairs of kicks. Now, an Instagram user has shared in-hand shots of two of Pharrell’s Chanel footwear offerings, one of which was teased in the GQ piece.
The first is a white canvas tennis shoe that features a doodle-like, all-over graphic and Pharrell and Chanel branding in the form of a tag on the lace stays. The second, previously unseen, is a more formal-looking, leather loafer with “CHANEL” and “PHARRELL” printed across the fore foot. Check them both out below.
In the aforementioned GQ interview, Williams is styled in pieces from the Chanel collab such as sunglasses, sweatshirts, and sneakers, all with simple co-branding.
The low-top tennis sneakers in slide 2 and 5 feature doodles and slogans written on the upper, with Chanel’s double-C insignia on the toe of the left foot, in the same vein that Pharrell has customized multiple pairs of Timberland 6 inch boots in the past.
In addition to the Chanel gear, in slide 1 we also get a glimpse at a pair of adidas Solar Hu sneakers with heart-shaped Human Made branding on the forefoot. Not to be confused with the “Human Race” branding that has featured on a number of previous Pharrell x adidas drops, Human Made a clothing brand owned by Pharrell’s longtime friend and business partner Nigo.
A second blue colorway of the shoes also appeared on the Instagram feed of artist Takashi Murakami. This could suggest a three-way collaboration between Pharrell, adidas, and Human Made.
The first drop of the Pharrell x Chanel collection is set to be released on April 4. It will be available at select Chanel boutiques worldwide. Check them out here.
