Editor’s Notes: After debuting the collaboration during Paris Fashion Week last June, Li-Ning gives us a detailed look at its anticipated collaboration with Stefano Pilati and Random Identities. The joint effort features the previously seen all-black Aurora 2020, in addition to a brown colorway.

Li-Ning released the original Aurora in 2004 as a high-performance technical running sneaker awarded to China’s medaling athletes. A resident of Berlin, Pilati now pulls inspiration from two of the city's most passionate communities, cycling and the underground club scene, for the all-new Aurora 2020.

The Random Identities x Li-Ning Aurora 2020 has been reshaped into a low-top trail boot with a built-in LED light system. The battery-operated setup offers three illumination speeds of on, strobe, and intermittent strobe. The lighting feature is a nod to Berlin's raucous nightlife as well as bike headlights and reflective gear used while riding around the city at night. The shoe is then finished off with a bungee cord-style lacing system and a wear-resistant outsole.

The all-black Aurora 2020 releases in men's and women's sizing January 17, while the brown iteration launches the same day for men only.
