Rare Sneaker

NFT sneakers were somewhat of an inevitability— but Rare Sneakers are taking it one step further with a series of collectible NFT sneaker artworks. Dropping on community-owned NFT marketplace Rareible, the series includes three standout NFTs so far, a series of “Donks” and their most recent “Jurdan 1.”

The aptly named “In Bloom Jurdan 1” features a petrified floral upper overlayed with sandpaperish paneling and bursting with more flowers from the mouth of the shoe. The surreal design sees the sneaker suspended in the air above a water sunset. One of the 25 editions is valued at 3.3 ETH or $5,592.37.

One of the other standouts is the “Everything Concrete Donk,” which sees the Dunk rendered in a Daniel Arsham-style corroding concrete design. The sneaker is wedged between two slabs of concrete. The detailing, including fine fractures throughout the upper and floating particles disengaging from the sole, gives the work a sci-fi appearance.  Currently, this work is valued at 0.8 ETH or $1,355.73.

Elsewhere, the sci-fi theme continues, with the "Iridescent Blue Space Jam Donk" which is currently valued at .5 ETH or $2,541.99. This silhouette arrives in a number of different colorways, including purple, green, and soon gold as well. Each of the Iridescent “Donks” is framed in a planetary ring design and backed by a starry sky.

Meanwhile, crypto brand RTFKT Studios continues to dominate the NFT fashion space recently by dropping a new sneaker collaboration with Atari. The news came on a day when Gucci became the first luxury stalwart to release its own digital sneaker with fashion-tech company Wanna.
