Riccardo Tisci is the new chief creative officer of Burberry. Tisci will replace Christopher Bailey, who sent out his final collection after 17 years with the brand at London Fashion Week last month.

Tisci was creative director at Givenchy for 12 years where he was noted for introducing a sportswear aesthetic into the realms of high fashion, as well as turning the brand into one of LVMH’s most profitable companies. Tisci’s recent collaboration with NikeLab saw the Italian designer create a uniform for a fictional basketball team, the Victorious Minotaurs, as well as a reimagined edition of the Nike Air Force 1. Will Tisci’s latest role see him bring sportswear into the forefront of Burberry?
