Lady Gaga is in talks to star in Ridley Scott's upcoming true-crime drama about the murder of Maurizio Gucci, according to Hollywood Reporter. The script is based on the novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden.
The film will detail the story of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci's grandson Maurizio Gucci, who was gunned down by a hired hitman after selling his stock in the company to an investment group in 1993. Lady Gaga will allegedly portray Gucci's ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani – who was later convicted of arranging the killing.
"This project has long been a labor of love for both Ridley and me," says Giannina Scott, who will produce alongside her husband under the Scott Free banner. "The story is so epic, the stakes so high and the characters so richly drawn that we were determined to get it to the big screen."
She continued, "To say we are thrilled to be teaming with Mike De Luca and his brilliant film group at MGM is an understatement. We can’t wait to see this come to life next year."
Filming is slated to take place once Scott has finished working on the historical drama The Last Duel, which has paused production due to Coronavirus.
