Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is set to star as Pikachu in the first ever live-action Pokémon film, Detective Pikachu. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds will star alongside actors Justice Smith from The Get Down and Kathryn Newton from Big Little Lies. Smith will play the son of a man who has been kidnapped, while Newton plays a “sassy journalist.” To find Smith’s father, the duo will enlist the help of Reynolds’ Pikachu.

Although most details are under wraps, it has been confirmed that Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman will write the script, with Rob Letterman as director.
