Editor’s Notes: Saucony’s latest trail running sneaker, the Mad River TR, was designed to be modified. Trail running sneakers are usually versatile by design, with ice, water, and dirt common obstacles on a run. The Saucony Mad River TR takes things to a new level by coming with a sole that features “guide holes.” This miniature holes are there to either install studs (for gripping on icy ground) or to create drainage holes (for wet and muddy roads) by actually drilling into your shoes with a power drill.

Coming in at a modest $110, the Saucony Mad River TR is designed for runners that aren’t scared to do it themselves to get the most out of their runs. Check it out above.
