What if a meme could end the world? That is the hilariously thrilling premise at the heart of Memetic, a movie in the works by Seth Rogen‘s Point Grey production company. The film will be penned by Mattson Tomlin, the co-writer of Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, The Batman.

According to The Wrap, the Rogen-backed horror thriller about a “killer meme” could be getting picked up by Lionsgate. Memetic is based on the Boom! comic of the same name by James Tynion IV.

The Memetic comic follows a meme called “The Good Time Sloth,” which causes viewers to become psychotic and violent, causing society’s downfall as it spreads across the world. The story’s protagonist Aaron, who is colorblind and thus immune to the meme, searches for his boyfriend in a post-apocalyptic (and post-sloth meme) world.

For now a release date for Memetic has not yet been set. In the meantime, let us know in the comments which meme you think deserves its own horror movie.
