Warner Bros. officially unveils a first look at upcoming superhero film Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

With the character notably part of the DC universe, EW also shared some plot details of the movie but only pertains to the early portions of the film and doesn't tease the film's antagonist, however, it gives a quick summary of what to expect from Shazam! If you're a fan of the comics, then you'll be very familiar with the backstory.

"In the film, Billy is assigned to a new foster home where he befriends comic book superfan Freddy. One day, Billy’s subway ride is interrupted by a mysterious Wizard whose been searching for ages to find the right successor to inherit his powers. He reveals the teen’s been selected to gain an assortment of abilities, and all it takes is for Billy to say 'SHAZAM!'"

Shazam! is slated to hit theaters on April 5, 2019, and represents as a setup to the unofficial second stage of DC universe films that includes Aquaman coming December 21.
