Editor’s Notes: Social Status has teamed up with Nike's Jordan Brand on a special Air Jordan 6 to celebrate NBA All-Star Weekend 2019, which takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina this week. North Carolina, of course, is the birthplace of Michael Jordan and home to His Airness’ own NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets.
Social Status' Jordan Brand collab takes inspiration from both the event’s location — as evidenced by the purple detailing on the shoe — and Jordan’s “Black Cat” alter ego. “Black Cat” was famously revealed by Tinker Hatfield to be one of Jordan’s many nicknames and prompted a series of blacked-out colorways inspired by a black panther's stealthy appearance.
The Air Jordan 6 was also the sneaker in which MJ won his first NBA championship in 1991.
Check out shots of Social Status' Air Jordan 6 above and look for these to drop on Nike and at select retailers today, February 21.
