Softcore untd.
Fredrik Austad

You don’t have to be fluent in Norwegian to understand that Softcore untd. is ridiculously talented. The four-piece hails from Bergen, a charming city on the southwestern coast of the Scandinavian country, with members from the groups FAKETHIAS (Mathias Humlen), Sushi x Kobe (Emir Hindic), and Verdensrommet (Andreas Høvset, Vetle Junker). Today, we’re premiering their new single “gi meg tid” which translates to “give me time” in English. Attempting to categorize the experimental quartet’s sound is honestly useless, but the best way to describe it would be the sensation of unwinding in a sound bath. This dizzy track in particular straddles house and hip-hop with a splash of electro-R&B.

“The song is influenced by winter depression and reassessing a bunch of life choices,” said Høvset. “It’s about getting tired of the safe routines and the same buildings you see every day. I wrote the lyrics while I was in a cabin in the mountains and that stark, natural environment is reflected in the vibe of the song.”

Softcore untd. is expected to release their debut EP this year on Cascine. Stay tuned here for more updates on the group and alleviate your seasonal depression by streaming the single below.
