Sonos

Sound expert Sonos has launched its first portable speaker, the Move, and it's a banger. The sleek device offers industry-leading sound, and it’s also waterproof, dustproof, and drop-resistant. This weekend, Sonos is giving Berliners the chance to experience the Move's powerful sound at an immersive installation in the city's West. Read on for details.

Known for its state-of-the-art home sound systems, Sonos has applied its advanced engineering to the portable design, which is protected by a hardwearing, shock-resistant black case that protects from rain, humidity, and the occasional bump.

When it comes to sound, the new device doesn’t disappoint thanks to two Class-D amplifiers and Sonos’ innovative Trueplay™ technology that automatically tunes the sound depending on where you are and what you're listening to. This is especially helpful outdoors, where sound can be washed out by surrounding noise.

Designed to be used on the go, the new speaker offers 10 hours of listening off one charge and can stream audio over Bluetooth – ideal for when you’re in a no-wifi area – as well as connect to the already existing Sonos Wifi system. As if that wasn’t enough, the speaker, which retails for a reasonable €399, also has a built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa so it can be activated by voice.

To launch the Move, Sonos is giving Berliners the chance to experience its powerful sound for free in person. The immersive sound installation consists of two purpose-built domes, the first of which is forest themed and the second replicates a sandy beachfront setting. Upon entering the domes, visitors are given a Sonos Move speaker and encouraged to wander through the space and experience the device’s sound first hand.

The event takes place from 26-28 September at Zoo Palast and at Berlin’s iconic Gedächtniskirche. For more information about the event, head here.
