Cop It, Then Rock It

The ’90s were the golden age of hip-hop. As the genre penetrated the mainstream and exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, Biggie, 2-Pac, Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, and Nas were just a handful of the then-unknowns who would go on to become household names. Out went the novelty acts of the ’80s (Fresh Gordon, anyone?) and in came a fresh, charged-up generation, ushering in the eras of alternative hip-hop and gangsta rap.

Nearly 30 years on and the influence of the ’90s is still acutely felt, both in music and fashion. Accordingly, renowned sock brand Stance has come through with a capsule that celebrates the era, featuring some of the biggest artists of the time.

Whether you’re East Side, West Side, or both, the below selection features something for everybody. Peep them, and then head over to the Stance website for more fire looks.

Biggie’s debut album, Ready To Die, was produced by DJ Premier and Mister Cee, to name but a few, and released September 13, 1994. Stance has now immortalized the album cover, referred to by many as the greatest album ever, on a pair of its crew socks.

A Tribe Called Quest is as iconic a hip-hop group as any and influenced music all the way from their formation in 1985 to beyond their sixth and final studio album in 2016. Each member of the group is featured on the socks, while the foot of the sock features a Rasta-colored design. The band enjoyed a hugely successful comeback this year.

Biggie was the illest for a reason, and now you can express that thought with these socks which feature a print of the rapper in his iconic Coogie sweater.

You can tell how influential Biggie was, and still is, by the simple fact that this is already the third time he has been put on a pair of Stance socks on our list. These bad boys feature Biggie’s famous photograph from his shoot with photographer Barron Claiborne for the cover of Rolling Stone.

Eric Lynn Wright, aka Eazy-E, is wearing his iconic Compton hat on this pair. Eazy was part of revolutionary hip-hop group N.W.A and performed solo, earning his place in rap history.

Snoop Doggy Dogg’s classic debut album, Doggystyle, came out in 1993 and can now be worn on your feet. The fun, cartoon-y cover is perfect to be paired with a short-sleeve tee and shorts as you skate down one of the many beaches out on the West Coast.

Biggie’s “Juicy” put his life’s struggles into words and helped motivate others to turn their life around, giving them hope for a better future. The iconic basketball jersey Biggie wore in the music video is now available in sock-form.

Tupac. There’s not much that hasn’t been said about the iconic rapper-slash-actor and one of the most influential people of the ’90s period. These socks come with his famous bandana and are a fun way of remembering and paying homage to a legend.

Death Row records released banger after banger, bringing Dre’s The Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle, and 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me to the people. Now you can rep the legendary record label on your feet.
