With the event originally scheduled to take place next month, the Swedish Fashion Council announces that Stockholm Fashion Week SS20 has been canceled.

“Stepping away from the conventional Fashion Week model has been a difficult, but much considered decision,” says Jennie Rosén, CEO of the Swedish Fashion Council. “We need to put the past to rest and stimulate the development of a platform that is relevant for today’s fashion industry (and) focus on creating tools and platforms in order to support and prepare the industry for the future.”

Stockholm Fashion Week had been a bi-annual event hosted by the Swedish Fashion Council. While we know the council is doing away with the traditional format, they have yet to provide any details on what to expect in the future. More information should arrive later this year, however.

Dazed points out that Stockholm Fashion Week has placed a concerted effort on spotlighting young designers in the past with its Challenge The Fabric Award, with hopes of providing them with ample opportunities for longevity. The event's updated format could cater even more so to up-and-coming talent. Nonetheless, you'll have to stay tuned for more surrounding the impending Stockholm Fashion Week revamp.
