[UPDATE: January 28, 2018 4:30 a.m. ET] With many eagerly awaiting the release of the duo’s collaborative T-shirt collection, where a release date of February 20 was stated, news from Instagram account, @ibnjasper, points towards an official unveiling the day after, on February 21. The aforementioned post also goes on to show a series of collaborative canvases that could suggest a possible exhibition is in the works. They could however be additional merchandise to the already impressive line of products we have seen floating around Murakami’s Instagram account: attached below.
After teaming up on limited hand-printed T-shirts this past fall for ComplexCon, Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami now reveals that another upcoming collaboration with Virgil Abloh is in the works.
Murakami took to Instagram to report that Abloh visited his studio, where the two reportedly discussed future plans and working on another series of screen-printed T-shirts. With Virgil holding one design, the tees are essentially defined by their incorporation of hand-printed details that infuses Murakami’s signature style with OFF-WHITE‘s logo.
Details on its availability have not been revealed yet, but expect to see its official unveiling at London’s Gagosian Gallery starting Tuesday, February 20.
