Following a debut earlier in the year, The North Face is now bringing FUTURELIGHT fabric to apparel. FUTURELIGHT is a sustainably-designed waterproof material that is soft, lightweight, flexible, and comfortable, as well as durable.

FUTURELIGHT is made using innovative nanospinning technology, as The North Face designers are able to adjust the weight, stretch, breathability, durability, construction, and texture of the fabric to adhere to the needs of consumers' activity or environment. After three years of research, product development, and lab and field testing, the brand is now utilizing FUTURELIGHT on jackets, pants, and bibs in its Summit Series, Steep Series, and Flight Series collections.

“We are starting with jackets and outdoor apparel, but we won’t stop there,” said Scott Mellin, Global General Manager of Mountain Sports at The North Face. “FUTURELIGHT can theoretically make anything breathable, waterproof and for the first time - comfortable. This technology is paving the way for the future of technical fabrics and provides endless possibilities across The North Face product categories.”

FUTURELIGHT allows The North Face to create three-layer garments with face and backer layers, constructed from 90 percent recycled materials. Beginning today, FUTURELIGHT apparel is available at The North Face stores, select retailers, and online.
