Editor’s Notes: This adidas collaboration with British brand Universal Works is part of the former’s Run City pack for FW19, which comprises four running capsule collections created with four retailers from around the world. adidas dropped the first Run City pack of the season in collaboration with WoodWood. Universal Works’ collection includes two Ultraboost 19 colorways as well as a range of color-coordinated apparel. Check it out above.

Universal Works founder David Keyte takes inspiration from functional running gear, specifically products geared towards London’s cold and wet winters. Part of that translates to the use of unexpected textiles and fabrics such as polyesters and wool. “Wool scares a lot of runners, but it can be much more breathable and regulate heat far more effectively than cotton even,“ Keyte says. “It’s a natural fibre, which is a bonus with real spring and elasticity.”

Another source of inspiration is everyday clothes, which Keyte wanted to emulate with a performance running shoe that would look just as good during the run as it does on the coffee run right afterwards.
