Following news of its $2 billion takeover by the Michael Kors group, Versace has announced a reissue of its iconic Medusa-head sunglasses, made famous in the ’90s by rap legend Notorious B.I.G.

Alongside fellow ’90s legend 2Pac, Biggie cemented Versace's reputation as an icon of hip-hop style and was one of the first rappers to attend the Italian house of opulence's fashion shows back in the day. More recently, artists such as 2 Chainz and Tyga have revived the Medusa shades, which sport bright gold Medusa heads on the temple and are being reissued in two different lens options.

The shades drop today at Barneys, both online and at retail locations, priced $295.

Now, here's everything you need to know about buying a pair of sunglasses this season.
