Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One — based on the novel by Ernest Cline — explores the possibilities of a completely virtual world, set in 2045. Ahead of the film's release later this month, YouTube channel SmarterEveryDay is delving into how we can one day interact with such a virtual environment.
For this particular video, SmarterEveryDay focuses on ways our bodies might partake in virtual reality. Enter, the haptic glove. According to engineer team HaptX, these gloves "use advanced haptic technology to bring realistic touch, force feedback, and precise motion tracking to virtual reality for business and entertainment."
In the clip above you will get to see real-life haptic gloves in action, as this is but the first episode in a series on technology that would allow us to interact with a virtual world. After watching, visit HaptX for more on their futuristic gloves.
Also, Ready Player One is due in theaters March 29.
