These days there is just so much printed matter it can be difficult for a publication to stand out. Unless you corner one particular niche, that is. “Mouthfeel” Magazine may have actually managed to do that.
The mag, now in its second issue, is arguably the first (or one of the first) gay food magazines. It was launched in April and is sold exclusively online, or if you happen to be living in the City of Lights, through colette Paris.
On the cover of the latest issue is Chef Gerardo Gonzalez who oversees the kitchen at El Rey NYC. Also featured are in-depth looks at Dante Fried Chicken in Los Angeles, as well as profiles of personalities like drag queen and epicure Juanita Moore.
In addition to the food-centric coverage the issue also features work contributed by artist Slava Mogutin and punk historian Bryan Ray Turcotte. Another fun fact: Every issue is packaged in a marinade bag and comes with original work by artist NeilGilks. You can also count on a fold-out poster of a musclebound man to accompany the whole shebang.
