As part of its ongoing travel series, lifestyle publication Monocle has taken a trip down under to the coastal, crowd-pleasing city of Sydney.

The clip provides enough insight into the food, culture, architecture, lifestyle and nightlife to get the wanderlust flowing, and later delves a bit deeper into the once struggling, now thriving arts scene. It also showcases some of the stunning independent boutique hotels that are giving the big chains a run for their money.

The video was made to accompany a physical travel guide published in collaboration with Gestalten, which, like the video, contains plenty of reasons to unpack your bags, settle in and linger a while. You can pick up the guide now from the Monocle Shop for $15.

Still not satisfied your travel cravings? Let Monocle guide you through the streets of Hong Kong below.

When you’re all booked and ready to fly, avoid checking your bag with Aer’s handy travel pack.
