This week, Mercedes-Benz has officially debuted its much-anticipated 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R. The automobile boasts more motorsport technology than any other production vehicle on the planet.
The front-mid-engine concept with transaxle, the twin-turbo V-8 engine that cranks out 585 horsepower, the extensively modified suspension, the new aerodynamics, and the intelligent lightweight construction all come together to lay the framework for an otherworldly driving experience.
The components under the hood aren’t the only aspects that will grab your attention, however. The exterior, first off, showcases an exclusive “AMG green hell mang” paint job that will no doubt turn heads. Wider front and rear wings then provide optimum grip and higher cornering speeds, while the new front fascia with active elements, the large rear aerofoil and the new rear fascia with double diffuser in turn enhance aerodynamic efficiency and help ensure optimum grip.
Lightweight forged wheels with cup tires come standard on the new GT R, while other stock features include active rear-wheel steering, a nine-way adjustable traction control system and adjustable coil-over suspension with additional electronic control.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R is scheduled to hit lots on November 21 of this year, while the market launch in Europe begins next March.
The new GT R reveal comes just months after Mercedes-AMG debuted the 469-horsepower drop-top C 63 Cabriolet.
