During a TED Talk today, Elon Musk played a video showcasing his Boring Company’s futuristic underground transit network that would allow vehicles to travel on criss-crossing layers of tunnels that include sleds shuttling cars around on rails at roughly 130 miles per hour.

In addition, Musk presented renderings of parking spots that are essentially elevator shaft entrances. The driver would pull in and then descend to an underground network where the car would travel along in a sled, all of which is controlled by computer.

Such a transit network would allow vehicles to travel at higher speeds on multiple, optimized routes.
