Where the runway meets the street

colette has announced that it will close its flagship Paris concept store. Taking to Instagram, the brand wrote that its doors will close December 20, 20 years after it opened.

The move comes as a surprise. Amid the general decline of brick-and-mortar stores, colette has managed to stay relevant, largely due to its well-curated mix of items and inventive brand collaborations.

The store was founded in 1997 by Colette Roussaux, but has largely been run by her daughter Sarah Andelman during the past few years. According to colette’s statement, the closure is due to Roussaux stepping down: “Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette can not exist without Colette.”

#colette BREAKING NEWS As all good things must come to an end, after twenty wonderful years, colette should be closing its doors on December 20th of this year. However, in the same statement, colette announced that Saint Laurent will be taking over the retail space, prompting rumors that the fashion house may have bought out colette for the prestigious rue Saint Honoré location.

The store will continue as normal until December 20 and until then colette stated that it “will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings.” So you still have a few months to say goodbye to the iconic store.
