Birkenstock has joined forces with Barneys New York to unleash a new mobile retail concept. Dubbed the Birkenstock Box, and designed by Gonzalez Haase AAS, the space is made up of stacked, converted freight containers, accounting for an undeniably intriguing overall pop-up.
The site-specific interior was in turn designed by Barneys New York Creative Director, Matthew Mazzucca, as the lines of the containers’ shell noticeably complement the façade of the Whitney Museum of American Art, located right across the street.
Residing at 90 Gansevoort Street, the Birkenstock Box houses co-created limited edition Birkenstock shoes, in addition to a curated selection of exclusive Barneys New York merchandise, including designer ready-to-wear, handbags, accessories and beauty.
The space is open to the public through September 12.
