Tune in and turn up

If there’s one thing that gets most of us through the day, it’s discovering new artists. Whether we’re scrolling through SoundCloud looking for mood tunes to help alleviate a case of the Mondays, or listening to a mixtape someone has sent our way, not a day goes by without some kind of music playing in our offices.

Since our inboxes tend to get inundated with projects from artists interested in coverage, we’re spotlighting some of the quietly wondrous musicians that find their way to us each week. These artists may not have conquered the Billboard 100 (yet) but they’ve all got something unique to offer, and they’re all worth getting to know.

Scroll through to see our 10 under the radar artists to discover this week, and stay tuned for a fresh selection next week.

Where: NYC
What They’re Working On: Prepping a release for early 2018 after releasing the AUTUMN EP back in May.

Benta

Where: NYC
What They’re Working On: Getting ready to drop their second single since last year’s Noir EP, though the covers they’ve dropped in the meantime have been superb.
Sounds Like: Being taken to the underworld by a Grim Reaper who is surprisingly comforting and understanding of your fear.

Deejay Abstract

Sounds Like: If the small, transitional moments on slow Drake songs were given room to blossom into something more radiant.

filous

What They’re Working On: A follow-up to this summer’s lush For Love EP.
Sounds Like: Sitting in a field full of dandelions when the wind blows their fragile thistles everywhere. Also you’re on shrooms.

Where: Sydney
What They’re Working On: Continuing to collaborate after several excellent single releases over the summer.
Sounds Like: When you get really emotional over something insignificant and you don’t know why.

NewAgeMuzik

Where: London
What They’re Working On: Gearing up for the release of a new EP titled CarTunes 2, a sequel to their debut.
Sounds Like: The Donkey Kong-courses from MarioKart if the annoying 8-bit sounds are replaced with trap beats and charismatic emcees.

OMB Peezy

Where: Sacramento, California
What They’re Working On: Their debut project, which you can listen to in full above.
Sounds Like: Hitting the club in an enormous fur coat that coat check offers to hold for free because you clearly are the swaggiest person in the room.

Stellina

Where: Toronto
What They’re Working On: This song right here! Debut single FTW!
Sounds Like: A pop-princess pumping a dancehall beat full of Xanax and heading to a beachside nightclub that is fun… but a little sinister.

Tough Love

Where: London
What They’re Working On: Continuing to release their debut album, which has been split into three parts and released throughout the year.
Sounds Like: The last burst of energy you get in the club – running around in complete happiness before you quickly crash and burn like the Hindenburg.
