Last week we were invited into the beating heart of German-born sports house adidas to their headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, Germany. Often compared to a university campus, the headquarters is located on a sprawling 346-acre site over several buildings and definitely includes more facilities than your usual office space, including a fitness center, climbing wall, basketball, football, and even a volleyball court.

It might seem a strange location for one of the world's biggest sports brands to set up camp, but it's exactly where it all started. Founder Adi Dassler once called this place home - his actual villa has been restored to serve as offices, and adds to the storied history of the brand that its employees can experience firsthand. German architecture firm Kadawittfeldarchitektur, meanwhile, took care of the design, and in turn created the signature focal piece of the main office space. Known as the "Laces," the walkways took inspiration directly from sneakers, as the bridges are used to "tie" the different volumes of the building together.

Take a look into the sprawling space below and stay tuned for more stories straight from Herzo.
