Editor’s Notes: adidas has reached back into its archives for its latest silhouette, the POD-S3.1, which takes design inspiration from mid-’90s running technology.
The P.O.D. System (Point of Deflection) is designed to benefit the runner by providing shock absorption and stability. The modern version’s sole is made up of three different parts: a high rebound EVA forefoot, a Boost heel, and an outsole that creates a bridge inspired by adidas’ Torsion bar.
Highsnobiety previously covered the POD-S3.1 here, comparing it to the NMD series, which was popular upon release in 2016. Whether the POD-S3.1 can be 2018’s NMD remains to be seen, but adidas certainly hopes so and the sneaker’s slick silhouette and Boost technology makes us think it could.
