Though he released a stellar debut full-length with 2014’s Venice and was largely responsible for the glory of Dr. Dre’s opus Compton last year, this is the year in which Anderson .Paak fully came into his own. The release of his major-label effort Malibu back in January was met with near-universal acclaim, and he has since been featured prominently as one of XXL’s Freshmen Class of 2016. What better way to continue his year of success than with a live album? So thanks to Spotify, Paak has just dropped his first-ever collection of live arrangements.

Effectively titled Live From Spotify House SXSW ‘16, the record is a release worked exclusively through the streaming service. And as one might surmise from the name, it was recently recorded at the company’s now-infamous tent at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. It features 11 tracks, and his set is mostly comprised of songs from this year’s Malibu. But Paak also churns out a few surprise appearances off of Venice, and even further surprises from his collaborative EP Yes Lawd. Said EP was recorded with his frequent producing-partner Knxwledge and was released under their moniker NxWorries. It is a collection of live arrangements that is accessible for both the casual Andersonians and fodder for his most hardcore fans, definitively capping off his momentous year.
