Editor's Notes: Following the reintroduction of ASICS' early 2000s runner, the GEL-1090, in 2019, the silhouette was shown some serious love, before the wave of releases began to taper off.

That wasn't the last we'd be seeing of it, however, thanks to a collaboration with one streetwear's kingpins. BAPE once again is setting its sights on the retro runner for another statement colorway.

Is a BAPE collaboration without camouflage even a BAPE collab? Probably not. For the first round of the team-up, the sneaker was decked out in olive suede with classic camo underlays – everything about the look was militaristic, but you had no chance of blending in, in them. It's in A Bathing Ape's nature to stand out, and the pops of orange, red, and yellow made sure of that.

Part two takes the theme of camouflage that'll make you stand out like a sore thumb and runs with it, delivering an ode to Paris at the same time. This time around, a Parisian store exclusive blue and red BAPE camo dresses the underlays across the entire sneakers, while a deeper blue suede gives the overlays a strong contrast.

With the renewed interest BAPE has been showing in the ASICS GEL-1090 this year, we're left wondering if more city exclusives might be on the way.
