Life beyond style

2017 has officially concluded and Barack Obama seems to be enjoying his post-White House downtime as he closed out the year by sharing the best books he read, as well as the songs he listened to over the course of 2017 in efforts to lift Americans’ spirits for the new year.

The former POTUS took to Facebook on Sunday, New Year’s Eve to showcase the detailed list, saying, “During my presidency, I started a tradition of sharing my reading lists and playlists. It was a nice way to reflect on the works that resonated with me and lift up authors and artists from around the world. With some extra time on my hands this year to catch up, I wanted to share the books and music that I enjoyed most.”

Topping Obama’s book list was dystopian sci-fi novel The Power by Naomi Alderman, while his favorite tunes was filled with popular hits like “Mi Gente” by J Balvin & Willy William, Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.,” Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” and Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times.”
